Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Set to Break All-Time Box Office Records

How long is Harry Potter? 2 ½ hours. Do you have your Potter tickets yet? You should, it seems that just about everyone else in the world does. According to Fandango the 2 ½ hours of Potter goodness has sold more tickets than any other film so far this year, and can account for more than 90% of their daily ticket sales over the last couple days. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is set to break all sorts of box-office recorder, for the year and all time, so will you be part of the magic?

In history of the film franchise, the previous five Potter films have grossed over $4.48 billion worldwide at the box office. That sets the stage for Harry and his troupe of teen wizards to take over the world, as far as movie industries go. The 20 Bond films (from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace) make up the highest grossing franchise in the industry and it hovers at the $5 billion mark. If ticket pre-sales and actual numbers turning out for the midnight release are any indication, Potter will not only overtake Bond, but will likely soar past it with the last two films still waiting in the wings.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has also set records for ticket presales. According to an article in Variety, as of Monday there were already 300 sold-out shows for the midnight release last night. Ticket pre-sales for the HBP have not only surpassed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but they’ve overtaken Twilight, Iron Man and Sex and the City to come in at No. 3 on Fandango in all-time advance tickets sold.

So check out Fandango, and see if there are any tickets available in your area. Then grab your wands, and plastic black-rimmed glasses and head to the theaters where you can be part of the magic (lame pun realized, but it had to be done).
