New Harry Potter Trailer to Twilight: Drop Undead
For what seems to be the better part of a decade, or at least the maturation of a child to a full-fledged adulthood, Harry Potter has had a monopoly on the Teen Fantasy market, bringing in billions for its appearances in print and on screen. Then, Twilight happened, possibly inspiring as many themed parties as Harry Potter, but with more hair gel and detached-to-the-point-of-in-your-face-ness facial expressions. Oh, and colored contacts. No Twilight-themed party is complete without Edward-esque contacts. So, with the ante officially upped, how is the latest Harry Potter (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) responding? Is it politely folding, brushing off the Doritos crumbs and walking away from the poker table? Is it looking for an obvious tell like, say, an habitual penchant for eating Oreos when bluffing like Rounders?
Or is it seeing Twilights wager and raising? Take a look at the trailer below and decide for yourself.
Fortunately, for Harry Potter loyalists and people with disposable income and time to spare come mid-July, Harry Potter has (last poker analogy, I promise) pushed its remaining stack of chips into the center of the table.
After viewing the new trailer that has been described in glowing terms that only fall a note short of saying it changed my life and receiving news of the films revised premiere date, which will now fall on a Wednesday, Harry Potter seems to be bringing its A-game this time around. It also doesnt hurt that the Harry Potter troupe has now reached adulthood, or at least are old enough that it no longer seems inappropriate or squirm-inducing to mantle them with the romantic weight that Twilight was based upon and capitalized on so extensively.
Check out the trailer for yourself:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens nationwide 15 July 2009. Lines are, quite possibly, already forming.
