Based on Stephen Vincent Benet’s novel, “The Sobbin’ Women,” is the feature film musical about Adam Pontipee (Howard Keel) who lives with his six brothers in a cabin deep in the mountains. When Adam goes to town one day to find himself a “wife,” he meets Milly (Jane Powell), whom he convinces to marry him that very same day. When Adam brings returns with Milly all the brothers are envious and would like wives of their own. The brothers get advice from their older brother, Adam, to go and kidnap the women they wish to be their wives. To prevent the towns people from attacking them or the girls running away, they cause an avalanche between the town and their cabin.
